Located just south-southwest of Belen in the Rancho Rio Grande Subdivision, this five acre parcel sits nestled among the blue skies and sagebrush that blanket the plain. One of the great things about owning land in Socorro County is that the local government has ZERO restrictions on what you can and can not build. As stated on their website: "Socorro County does not have a zoning or permitting ordinance. At this time there are no County regulations or restrictions on the use of real property..." This is ideal for anyone looking to build a tiny house, create their own off-grid encampment or simply park an RV for some indefinite period of time without having to worry about obtaining the burdensome building permit frequently required in other jurisdictions.

Another great thing about this part of Socorro County is it's close proximity to Albuquerque which sits just forty minutes to the north. As more Americans migrate to the 'sun belt' every year, driving up the demand for housing, it's only a matter of time before the population overflow expands into the currently deserted surrounding areas. Places like Socorro County and particularly a subdivision like this, located just off the I-25, are the most likely candidates to meet that demand for housing. In short, buy now and watch as the value of your land continues to increase!

Property Specific Notes:
  • This property sits off Charin Lane. Our photographer reported difficult driving conditions approaching from the north, but stated a southern approach is much easier to naviagte. See discussion of access in the video at the top of this page for futher details.

  • The nearest power lines north of the property are roughly 4.5 miles away along with what would seem to be your closest neighbors. To the south of the property the distance is about 1.5 miles to your nearest power line and neighbor. Buyers looking to build out here are encouraged to consider solar or other alternative forms of power.

  • This property offers excellent privacy while still placing you only a few miles from the more developed region in the I-25 corridor. Here you'll have easy access to groceries, supplies, churches, hospitals and schools. Locally there's a Wal-Mart in Belen, UNM's Valencia campus, the Isleta Casino and Resort and Tierra Del Sol Country Club and Golf Course. Additionally, the Rio Metro recently expanded it's rail line from Santa Fe to Belen with stops in Los Lunas and Albuquerque, making it even easier to live here and commute to work in those northern cities.

  • NOTE: While the GPS coordinates provided on our listings are typically derived from software which interfaces with the county database of records, Socorro County does not submit their information to the software provider. Because of this, the GPS Coordinates listed on this page were obtained directly from the Socorro County GIS office, hence the reason we only have a center point and no corner points as is typical of our other listings. While The Hemingway Land Company encourages all of our buyers to get their properties surveyed, in the case of Socorro County land, it is almost mandatory to ensure the exact location of the subject parcel. For futher discussion of this topic, please see the video at the top of this listing page.
